I am picking up watercolour painting again after so many years. My first attempt done on my new Moleskine pocket watercolour notebook with Daler-Rowney 12-colour pocket watercolour set. This is a picture of an old building in Georgetown, Penang.

If you have not painted with watercolours for some time then this is our loss. Your wee picture is delightful and very easy on the eye. More please!

Very nice. Your two styles are so different yet both so complete. It’s always a pleasure to see your latest offerings. I see that you’re pretty good with a camera too

No, Liyin… This is totally encouraging to pick up a brush again. Can anyone recommend a good watercolor set?
Liyin 1:08 pm on June 25, 2009 | #
Hi Leo, that’s very encouraging to hear indeed. Yea, to the experienced what’s your recommendation of a good watercolour set?
I am using a simple student 12-colour set from Daler-Rowney for a start. I think Winsor & Newton has something better to offer.

Wow! I’ve just seen that (’cause I’ rather new around here). Ultimately charming! With your eyes and hand any set would do. W&N (Cotman) is OK. Talens is my favourite (Van Gogh for sketches and Rembrandt for art). But, as they last long, you can use the expensive ones for everithing, they are more fan to work with.
Leo, this is one of the highest scored ones on the site, I guess? Why don’t put an option to instantly see the highest scored ones, lowest scored, etc.?

Leo, sorry, I’ve just realised you have that already!
