Ink, gouache, and colored pencils in my small moleskine. It was a relaxing sketching day–hot tea, Rachmaninov Concerto No. 3, and sweet incense burning while I worked. These are Marsh Marigolds: a member of the buttercup family.

Winter Scene – Edge of the Village – Watercolour in a Watercolour Moleskine
Copied from a small video, shot on Sunday morning:
(This is dedicated to Ziza in the hope that the fresh air will clear his head)This was cold, crisp and clear and I just had to get out between snowstorms. I now have lots more snow scenes to bore you all with. This one shows the west end of our village. The main road climbs between the houses and, just after this point is passed, reaches the highest part of the area. The belt of trees once was home to some early civilisation, estimated to have lived here around 5,000 years ago. There are still some stone “cup & ring” markings chiselled into the rocks about 1 mile from here. I hope these people managed to keep warm as it was around -5C (23F) when this was filmed. About an hour later the temperatures dropped and the snow returned.

Riding the 3 to Chambers Street from Grand Army Plaza on a Friday mornin’. Focus was much on Beardy with the black cap that the woman in foreground becomes camouflaged, appears almost taking form of the body, reminding me of Shel Silverstein in her whimsied napping contrasting his intense, albeit a bit ironic, appearance.
