Sketched some trees in pencil on the golf course last fall, just got around to inking them. It’s hard to due a full blown sketch on the golf course while playing unless the group in front of you is slow, and there is no group behind you.

2012Jan 29tags: Albany | ink | Ira | KuretakeAlbany. For some reason scanner refuse to read blue in the sky the way I did it, so instead of frustration I decide to feel thankful that it works at all. My ink got yellower and blue Kuretake pens agreed to drizzle over the drawing. Used ink and Kuretake over hot pressed Arches pad. Strange paper behavior, resist washes, pretend to be blotter paper. Still searching for ink friendly perfect watercolor paper.

2012Jan 29tags: Birch | Ratho | treesIt shouldn’t be here – Watercolour and Inktense
This birch tree stands among loads of old beech trees on the south side of Platt Hill. Whenever its windy it sways about in a terrifying manner while the tops of the beeches are the only parts which move. Its like a weather barometer advertising wind strength. Although it seems to move massive distances it has survived all of the bad storms and this is probably due to the fact that it doesn’t resist wind but bends with it. Perhaps a lesson for life?
