I just bought a moleskine as a sketch and outlining book for the stories I write. I had no idea that these things are so big, until I looked it up and realized there's a whole world of people who love them. Its a really awsome notebook, I love the thick, unlined paper that doesn't bleed through no matter how much pen I scribble all over it. I love seeing all the things people do with these notebooks.
marcello volpi on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=3#post-1089 Thu, 06 May 2010 11:22:43 +0000 marcello volpi 1089@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Hi! I live in New Zealand and do a lot of outdoors pencil sketching, the sort of thing you *would* do in a Moleskine if you had one, but I, err, don't have one.

Next time I need a new sketchbook, I might give it a go!
Anyways, this looks like a very cool site and I'd love to participate/contribute etc.

:D
jackie on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=3#post-1051 Sun, 04 Apr 2010 06:41:31 +0000 jackie 1051@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
I'm Jackie. It's astounding how diverse the Skine art community is; contributors from all over the world.

I first discovered Moleksines when I happened upon some of Mattias Adolfsson's art (which is some stellar stuff) and purchased one in the hope that the durability of the book itself, and the portability would allow me to draw anywhere at anytime allowing me to retreat even further from reality. The quality and smell of the paper (I like smelling books) made it impossible to stop filling page after page with nonsensical, spur of the moment doodles.

I'm not sure how Skineart came to appear in my browser window (probably googling moleksine same as plasma girl), but I'm glad it did. Even when I have nothing to post, not a day goes by that I don't hit up the site to browse through new posts.

Oh, and my name is Allen. Sorry for writing a book of a post.
John Speight on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=3#post-907 Thu, 21 Jan 2010 23:02:23 +0000 John Speight 907@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Hi, I'm a papercut artist in England. Although I have to precisely design my papercuts I haven't done any free sketching for years. I discovered skineart.com through twitter at the same time as I discovered Danny Gregory's books. So I bought some Moleskines (Wow are they great or what!) in December and made a new year's resolution to draw something every day, just to see what develops. I'm addicted already because this website is so friendly and inspiring!
kuroba on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=3#post-877 Thu, 07 Jan 2010 18:32:00 +0000 kuroba 877@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Hi, my name is Estivalia and I'm from Antofagasta, Chile. I was so busy with school that just now, that it's summer break, I've really started working on it. I don't think I'll stop anytime soon! :D

My favourite medias currently are watercolors (cakes and liquid, like Ecoline), inks and gouache.
Nuria on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=3#post-874 Wed, 06 Jan 2010 17:47:17 +0000 Nuria 874@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Error of transcription. I've been drawing and painting on and off for about 25 years. I've really gotten back into it in the last two years or so. Started carrying a pocket size blank reporter about a year ago that I use to jot down ideas and notes for projects, which has really sparked my creativity. And the artwork posted on this site has inspired me to keep working at developing my skills.

I don't have a definitive style or subject preference. I'm kind of all over the board with my work. Portraits, cartoons, Grafitti lettering, Poems and Stories, Random doodles, etc.. I like to use markers, pens, pastels, color pencils, and acrylic. I'm hoping to try my hand at guoache soon.
Nick Powell on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=2#post-604 Fri, 18 Sep 2009 18:06:42 +0000 Nick Powell 604@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Great story Ziza you are a well traveled man I think that drawing and painting will always come out if it is your blood, there may be gaps but it is always there for you to call upon and give you a break from the stresses of everyday modern life,I think that being able to play an intsrument may be the same.I often wish that I could play music but then think at least I can do some drawing or painting and get a buzz out of that.
I have been enjoying your posts and admire your ability to do so many.
All the best Nick
Ziza on "Introduce yourself" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=17&page=2#post-603 Fri, 18 Sep 2009 09:42:07 +0000 Ziza 603@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
I'm Nijaz Lukovac born in Sarajevo on 21-02-1957. Right from the start I've gor my nickname Ziza, and most of people even do not know my first name.
My father and uncle (his brother) were both professional painters. The later turned out to be more an alcoholic (and died in my present age). Having that family "tradition" I wanted to become a painter myself. My father, although making a goooood living, was not in favour of the idea - due to uncertainty of income in that profession (at least in those days of Tito). I was a wunderkind in Maths, so he proposed me to join technical and artistic skills and become an architect. I didn't want to compromise, could not stand long hours of memorising by heart in order to study say social "sciences", so I went to "something completely different" (perhaps inspired by Monty Python, which was extremely popular at the time - and remained my favourite series to this day).
I studied for civil engineer, and specialised in Hydraulcs. I have some kind of urges to paint, which come in waves with 11-year-gaps (has to be related to solar spots). However, I never stop drawing - and mostly all that went down the drain since it was on the marguins of the newspapers, books, meeting schedules and alike. When I discovered Moleskine, I decided to have one with me all the time, and now I'm making 2 drawings per day in average (Leo: how I'm going to post everithing with your set rate od one per day?).
Well, my intro turned to be many-fold longer than I planned, but now I'm not gonna read it again and delete unnecessary stuff...
PS. My profession brought me to live in Holland (Delft - the birthplace of my favourite painter Vermeer) for eight years, Tehran, Iran (six), and Hanoi, Vietnam (one)
