This will be the first time either of us has been in the States. We will arrive in NYC on 29th September and stay until the 2nd October. We then fly to Wisconsin to spend a week with John Stremikis and his wife Karen. Some of you already know of John but for those who don't, John contributes to Skineart by answering comments and offering invaluable advise to those of us who require guidance on things from art to computing. John and his son Kris visited us, here in Scotland, in January a visit we greatly enjoyed. We have been corresponding with emails and Skype for a couple of years now as I outlined in the “Communication” thread in the forum.
https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=98

The New York visit is very short and is really just a taster to see a place we have only dreamt of. Kris stays in NYC and has offered to organise some events/places to see etc. John and Karen will also join us for this leg of our trip. We have asked Kris to make his “bucket list” of activities very flexible so that we might get the chance to meet some of you, if anyone is interested. Activities are not set in stone but one idea might be to meet for some sort of activity such as a gallery visit or sketch crawl, followed by a bite to eat somewhere. Nikira and Leo have already been in contact and have graciously offered assistance if required. If anyone is interested in learning to speak with a Scottish accent it would be great to hear from you.
Uncle Bob on "I can not see the section contributors." https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=262#post-1455 Sun, 10 Jul 2011 19:35:03 +0000 Uncle Bob 1455@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
As I said, in my reply to your kind comment in my latest post, "it is good to hear from you again". I too have some difficulty in accessing some things but they are soon sorted out. Then, during the last mile the skies opened up again and we got completely soaked on our way back to the car (thankfully, I'd put my little molie in a ziploc bag just in case of that eventuality, so it stayed dry).

Overall, I am happy with our accomplishment (albeit, a bit sore and stiff) and excitedly looking forward to our longer trip out west at the end of the month.

I hope everyone else is doing well and having adventures to their liking! I'm still a bit stuck as to what to do for this month's challenge, but I'll think of something.
Nikira on "To look at and may be read." https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=144#post-1448 Sat, 02 Jul 2011 06:07:12 +0000 Nikira 1448@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Interesting but scary to think about. If you haven't read it, get a copy of Bill Bryson's "Walk in the woods - Hiking the Appalachian trail". At the beginning he has cold feet after reading about all the insect and water borne diseases that one can catch. He contemplates the effects of injury and reads statistics about bear attacks. All done with his usual sense of humour. Yes this is the tome to put you at ease.
plasma_girl on "The July 2011 Challenge is:" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=259#post-1444 Tue, 28 Jun 2011 18:17:31 +0000 plasma_girl 1444@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
The June 2011 Challenge is:

If I Could...

This theme was suggested by 12oz. Therapy.

In order to ensure that it is possible to retrieve all this month's entries, it would be useful if everyone tagged their posts as follows:

If I Could..., July 2011, Theme Challenge

The more participants, the merrier, and it’s always intriguing to see the variations other folks come up with!

As of this posting, we have six entries for the 'Shadow' theme from June. If June is gone and you're still inspired to submit something for the theme, don't hesitate to use these tags; looking back later on, it will still be cool to see all the variations on the theme, regardless of submission date.

The Theme Challenge is posted once a month and we’re always looking for new challenge ideas. Feel free to post them in the “MONTHLY THEME CHALLENGE” forum thread. I'll try to acknowledge each post so you know your idea is “in the jar” (or, in this case, the coffee can).

Hope everyone is having a summer full of adventure and enjoyment! I will be going backpacking for the first time ever in a few days (as a trial-run for a week-long backpacking trip with friends at the end of July) and I am both excited and slightly terrified!
plasma_girl on "Shake it!" https://www.skineart.com/forums/topic.php?id=257#post-1442 Fri, 24 Jun 2011 15:48:47 +0000 plasma_girl 1442@https://www.skineart.com/forums/
Well, mow that I've got the silliness out of my system, I can accept the challenge you put forth to actually create more forum messages with substance for others to engage with.
