This is a flower called Curcuma in portuguese.
I have a friend that has a huge bush in his backyard.
He is from India and loves curcuma as a spice.
I started the watercolor in spot but ended it with some hilights at home.

Last Chance. While my friends were skiing, I sketched at the frozen parking lot in the middle of snowy village my daughter’s favorite restaurant “Last Chance”. Food is nice and the owner is a sweetheart. You can get there amazing violet gum and mints, old fashioned, smelling like perfume.

This is a waterfall in the Feather River Canyon, and there is a railroad track that goes right over it. See the tiny human figure on one of the rocks? That will give you some idea of how large those boulders are.

Gonna post more while the posting is good. Here is Mount Lassen with a lot of snow on it. The last time it blew was in the early 1900 and it is still active, with interesting boiling mud pots and steam vents all around.
