Description/Story behind: Working in sketchbook for a college project to do with urban decay. Was doing a picture of an old barn and chose to try and create something in water colour. Wasn’t sure how my ‘Skine would react but I’m pleased to say it reacted well to the watercolours – even if my technique needs some refining. This is admittedly the fourth of a series of sketches where I’ve been practicing on water colours. -

I used my mother’s dining room as a base for a rough and distorted sketch of an interior and then added the rest from imagination. Ink pen and watercolour.

With the wine harvest season coming up in this part of the world, grape picking and wine tasting holidays are being promoted in the media accompanied by “tasty” pictures. One of them in particular caught my eye and I used it for a watercolour sketch.

2010Aug 21tags: flowers | Still Lifes | WatercoloursSome sunflowers in the garden broke off during a storm and thus wound up in a rather small vase on the dining room table, still looking great. I tried to catch this in a watercolour. Not particularly satisfied with the result, but still, here it is.
