A Magical Place – Inktense
This is the view towards the far (west) end of Tormain Woods, Ratho. A style allows access to the high point of Tormain Hill where evidence of earlier peoples can be seen in the form or “cup and ring” carvings. These are indentations in stones set into the ground and must be thousands of years old. This is a quiet place and can be rather eiriee and spooky especially when the weather is misty. Its quite magical, the only noise being birdsong echoing through the trees.
Edge of the Woods – Watercolour
Sunday was one of those brilliant winter days with temperatures below freezing but lovely sunshine and clear skies.
This shows the south edge of our local woods, during a short walk past the badger setts. Its where Tormain Woods join to the local farms – hence the fence. The time is late afternoon hence the warm glow of the sun sinking ahead to the west. All this fresh air guaranteed a good night’s sleep later on.
