March Rain
An evening’s wandering in ink, inspired by the cold, steady rain outside and the anticipation of the spring flowers soon to follow.

This is another painting from when I was in Tucson in April. Things were beginning to bloom in the desert and I was amazed at the colors! I wish I had more time there.
A quicker sketch of the insides of the samara seed. Most of the two halves are just food. At one end is the baby maple tree which resembles a squid. 0.5 mm mech. pencil. Please bear with me as I figure how best to post an image. (The corners are shadows from my fingers.)
Another Samara (for steveloya). Watersoluble graphite and 0.5 mm pencil. First time posting, for what’s it’s worth. I thought I might finally give something back after visiting the site for a year.
Spring Dawn, Freelands Road – Watercolour/Ink in a Watercolour Moleskine
Its been a long winter. Normally, at this time of year, these grass verges are a mass of yellow daffodils, in fact a local joke says that children never have to pay for “Mothers’ Day” flowers. (Mothers’ Day was last Sunday). One report, in a newspaper, suggests that all the bulbs, of all the different species, will suddenly burst through when the first hint of warmth hits us. This will be instead of a succession of different types of flowers. It said that everything will come at once. Should be worth waiting for.
Eostre, Dawn and Spring Goddess.
She just came out of my head. It is her time of the year, now. She is the sensual and joyful spirit of this month. The world “easter” comes from her name, but she was the first.
And she was wishing that I draw her, so I did it. She is the way I celebrate springtime.
Happy ostara.
Happy easter.
Happy spring…
