Snowy Colours – Watercolour
Done a few weeks ago when we had more snow. This was an attempt to spot as many colours in the snow as possible. I am always amazed at how things are never “just white” as the shadows and different areas reflect the light. I was once told that warm sky colours, in snow, should be complemented by cold ground ones and vice-versa and this seems to work for me,
My garden under snow – Watercolour with some acrylic
Its been a mixed winter so far with some snow falls which don’t last as wind and rain soon shifts the stuff. As we tend to get our heaviest falls at the start of the year perhaps this is still to come. Come to think of it, that’s about now!
House. Still too much snow. Parked across on neighbor’s property, thankfully he was not there. He is a nice guy, writer. Drew with Kuretake pens and outline with Rotring Art pen. Sketch of pen bled through from previous page, thin paper.
Pen and ink and Daniel Smith watercolor sticks, in large watercolor Moleskine. My friend’s baby’s first snow cone, from my own reference photo.
Restaurant “Mona Lisa”in Bensohurst, Brooklyn, with big pile of snow in front of it. Never eat there, just like it cozy italian looking facade with warm yellow and red roof. I drew it solely with Kuretake pens, isn’t cool? I used few “Art and Graphic twin”, “Brushables” and “Clean Color Real Brush” and of course my favorite waterbrush. Still alot to explore. On Arches watercolor book. I went to “Jerry’s Artarama” today to look at their paper selection. I liked Handmade book, looked nice, but price is crazy.
Tiny Beeches in Snowy Ground – Watercolour
Nothing special about this but I was intrigued by the way these small trees have kept some of their leaves through the whole winter. The snow is fast going but these plants stand, in a frost covered hillock in the local woods, with most of their leaves attached. The trees are only about 2 feet high and I had some difficulty in getting some scale into this scene. In my first attempt, I drew a small mouse, peeking out from behind the tree. This didn’t work as it looked as if the trees were “normal height” with a giant rodent underneath. Suggestions welcome.
