Tree Study, Rowan – Intense

This is meant to complement a recent post of the Ash Tree. Rowan is the Scottish name for Mountain Ash. They are traditionally grown near the house to ward off evil spirits. It is considered bad luck to cut one of these down as their protection will be lost. This should come in handy in our village as at least one lady claims to be a witch. I once said to her, after she spoke at length about her beliefs, “You know. Years ago you would have been burned at the stake for comments like that.” With a smile she replied, “I was!” I have just planted another Rowan in my garden.
