Got my sketchbook out finally to practice some faces. Ugh. The guy on the bottom right is the only one I really care for, and maybe the guy on the top, 2nd from the left. I used normal pencils, then sepia’d the image. (Rob’s flickr site.)

2009Jan 1tags: Fleecircus | pencil sketch | practice | procastinationIt’s time of the year when most of my jobs are cleared, and some minor jobs still left dangling. And distraction kicks in while surfing, i came across the story of Laocoön, and one mythology leads to another… i saw this stunning 2200 year old statue of Nike. I know i need to sketch it! So yes, work can wait.. and i tell myself 30 minutes to sketch and thats it! The sketch gradually became harder and more intricate than expected, and when i thought i almost got it, more than an hour past by. Crap… now i REALLY need to work.
NOTE: Those red label dots i placed on the sketch are actually mistakes that i made; as my patience to get the details right was wearing a little thin…..(Gahhhh….) -
2008Dec 31tags: Fleecircus | mythology | pencil sketch | practice | procastinationTaken from a very rough study statue of Laocoön And Sons (wrestling the serpent-last dated 1506). Although i grasped the basic shape right, somehow i missed out a a few fine details. I will sketch an improve version of this soon!
