2010Nov 29tags: charcoal | goop | pencil | portrait | self portrait | shahrazad07 | smudgeSelf Portrait entitled, “Good Hair Day”
I had no more real materials left but an A4 paper, a Mongol #2 pencil, a rustic dusty charcoal pencil and the usual- my fingers for the smudge effect!
I was so happy with my hair this day that instead of the usual- take a photo I went for the ol’ sketch myself, haha.

2010Nov 24tags: fountain pen | portraitTrying to get a grip on drawing with a fountain pen that I got for my birthday, I decided to start doing quick portrait sketches with it on a regular basis (preferably every day). This is one I did of Kate, a member of a virtual portrait party. Her picture in which she’s wearing a striking striped sweater and her description in which she says to be an avid surfer inspired me to give it this twist. Concerning the waves, I tried to add a touch of Hiroshige.

2010Nov 14tags: ink | Ira | Mike | portrait | water brushMike. Is not he a good looking? I promised him a drawing. Now he is off to Saint Martin, turquoise water and white sand, so I will give it to him after he’ll be back, and I will add some lettering here.

2010Nov 12tags: ink | Ira | mark | portraitMy friend. We know each other for more than quarter of a century, share great memories, had so much fun with our exquisite circle of friends in Moscow, how many wonderful books came to me from his hands, how much delicious homemade liqueur was consumed on our intellectual parties (Lena and Mark were in science field). I used another vintage advertising pencil and ink in furry album, I got long time ago in Home Goods, it said Kim Robertson inside on the back cover in silver letters on the fabric sticker. Kim Robertson is London based designer.
