latest updates: Pitt pens
Trip to the dentist. Traveling, soaking in the rain, experiencing headache and joy, laughing, eating tomato soup with fennel in the car, playing with pitt pens, living today, almost last day of March.
bored, can’t sleep, and my eyes are burning… forced myself to draw. maybe tomorrow i’ll be more motivated…
St Mary the Virgin Church at Week St Mary on the Devon Cornwall Border. This was early Morning sitting in the shadow of a large tree on a memorial bench. It was chilly.
There were several rooks about calling and this heightened the atmosphere of this rugged looking Cornish Churchyard.
I cannot remember the rhyme that tells you if they were rooks or crows. I think it goes:- if you see a rook its a crow and if you see several crows they are rooks!
I seem to have done a few religious things lately, purely by coincidence!
A view of the Market Hotel in Reigate [Surrey England]. From the top of the tunnel over the road below which is now a pedestrian area. There cave entrances in the tunnel below. The caves were originally mines used to get building stone, they run under the old Castle, [the grounds of which I was sitting in to do this].The caves have been used as ammunition stores during the war and wine bars etc since then, they are now closed to the public.I remember my dad driving us through this tunnel on the way to Brighton when I was a kid.
I read Annie Proulx’s book ‘The Shipping news’ about 3 -4 years ago.I sat down the other night and just started drawing and this is what came out, my interpretation of Quoyles house.I later looked on the internet at the book cover the American version has a picture of the house being dragged across the ice the English version has a picture of the sea, my drawing has a passing resemblance to the one on the American cover, spooky!
Great book have very vague memories of a film that was no where near as good.My usual method of pencil and Pitt pens.
