Russian Coin and Pocket Knife
(What’s In Your Pocket?)
A sketch page for the September 2012 Theme Challenge.
Drew this sketch before breakfast in Stillman and Birn little Delta sketchbook, 6″x8″, using pencil and wash. Drew this water soluble pencil over the sketch. Start drawing cat but he relocate soon to my knee, to observe the room from the other side.
Smokers pencil on the top of sketch. This is pretty old pencil, from 1920-30. The pocket clip is in a beautiful Art Deco design.
The top of the pencil is used as a pipe bowl packer. Inside there is a stem which is used for loosening tobacco and clearing tobacco from the bowl.
The stem makes an ideal cigar piercer.
I figure out why I couldn’t post it for a while, because file was named Smoker’s as soon as I eliminate ‘ it posted normally. Glad, I solved it.
Memories of Boo
A few sketches for a project in memory of my cat, Boo, who died in her sleep curled up in the sun about a week ago. She was sixteen and, while I’m glad she went peacefully, and I’ve known it was coming for a little while now, I still miss her.
