The Open Ends of Life Keep Me Up at Night
latest updates: patterns
This is the first page that popped up as I was thinking about this month’s theme challenge. It’s actually quite fortuitous timing, since 1 August is the first Celtic harvest holiday of Lughnasadh (there are three all together; Lughnasadh on 1 August, Mabon at the Equinox and Samhain on 31 October). Even though summer’s warmth is still quite strong, the first fruits are ready to be harvested. Autumn is my absolute favorite season, so every year when Lughnasadh rolls around and the cooler days are right around the corner, I start to get excited for the season just ahead.
I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead
Just one of those things us grad. students (as well as plenty of other folks, I imagine) joke about while we’re staying up late trying to get everything done before the next deadline. This is another entry in my ‘sleepless’ moleskine.
Sometimes the storm keeps me awake, sometimes it sings me to sleep.
This is the front cover of my ‘sleepless’ sketchbook. I liked the composition of the page posted yesterday so much that I decided to recreate it intentionally and then combine those shapes with some of my favorite patterns.
Summer Day Dreams
Some of the underlying colors (especially in the grass and the sand on the left) were washed out by the scanner.
