2010Jun 22tags: A4 watercolor Moleskine | art | drawing | Koi watercolors | nature | paint | Pigma Micron pens | sea life | seahorse | watercolorsI drew these for the Illustration Friday prompt, paisley. I thought about things in nature that resembled the paisley, and one of the first things that stood out in my mind was the seahorse, whose bodies seem to look like little living, breathing, floating paisleys. I may have also been somewhat influenced by watching some of the “Science is Fiction: 23 Films by Jean Painleve” DVDs, which is a truly fascinating, eye-opening series of short, nature films with a very surreal quality about them. The segments on seahorses, and octopi, alone is worth the watch. Definitely check this series out if you have a interest in nature and art.

Hmm.. I think I should stop trying to paint on a regular Moleskine Sketchbook. It not really getting along with my wet gouache/watercolours very well.. Blech..

2010Apr 2tags: classmate | colours | fountain pen | gouache | keyboard | paint | school | Shachihoko | tools | tree | waterbrushI was bored at school.. It was a slow day in class so I decided to sketch and paint out my tool of trade and random things around the classroom.. A tree from outside look like it was peeling, a mac keyboard, a student working on his Flash assignment, and one of my japanese classmate tweaking his work.. Oh and a panorama photo on a wall..

2010Jan 31tags: doodle | ink | paint | pocket moleskineJanuary doodle. I carry my Moleskine everywhere, and whenever I have a minute to myself, I take it out and scribble, even wipe my brush at lunch, even add a memo to myself. So this sketch went through Subway trip, Luster stone sponge, evening tea with my favorite french blue mints, stare at my military phone and to do list.

2009Oct 30tags: amatt | face | paint | portrait | sharpieOk, I know this doesn’t look that amazing. but I felt like posting it just because it was really unexpected. what happened was I painted a portrait of my friend in my Moly-skine. And when I thought it had dried I closed it, but It wasent completely dried. The previous page i had done a design in sharpie and it somehow when though the paint and did an exact print onto the other side. If that makes any sense. I like it anyways.
