Autumn Sunlight
Fall is my favorite season; the sun, the crisp, falling leaves, the frequent mist and rain, the cold night and chill mornings; and often inspires many pages of sketches and doodles.
Small Friend
While I was sketching a bottle of Newcastle on a deck overlooking the river, this little insect landed on my arm and just stayed there for several minutes. Once I finished the Newcastle sketch, I switched over to sketching this little one; at which point, it flew away for parts unknown.
Newcastle Impression
The bar was out of Guinness (at 5:30 on a Friday…they need to have a talk with whoever does their ordering!), so my plan to sketch a Guinness out on the deck while I waited for friends to join me got revised to sketching a Newcastle instead.
Football, world championship. Our Dutch team reached the finals yesterday evening, against Uruguay, 2-3. Next sunday it’s against Germany or Spain.
I made the sketch during the last minutes of the match.
As this is my first contribution here comes the obligatory confession that I’ve been lurking the site for a month or so, enjoying everyone’s art. Now I got my first Moleskine and am ready to make my own humble additions. I mostly paint in oils but I’ve been too busy lately so I’ve turned to watercolor and sketching and am loving it. My goal is to draw/paint something every day this year, and so far I have. Here’s a little ink and watercolor to start with. The lettering is marker on eraser-stamps I carved myself
