Fanciful Fish
We had an amazing home-cooked fish dinner a few nights ago and that got me thinking about fish, so I decided to make one up and draw it.

France. Brittany. winter time. Short visit in Concarneau at the end of the day at a time where trawlers sailed back to the port.
We could even buy fresh scampis.
Watercolor (Winsor & newton) & brown ik (Faber Castell)
Summer Lagoon
This started as a smiling sun up in the corner and the rest just sprang up from there. It gave me another chance to play around with those colored gel pens again, too.
Storm on the Ocean
Another page playing around with stylized clouds, lightning and waves. I liked the way it looked so much, I did a more refined version (to be posted tomorrow).
Kin Beach Park – Chemainus, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
A sketch of a local beach near the town of Chemainus. It is a beautiful beach during a low tide, you can see the mountains and the greens along with the boats docking in the middle of the water. It was a relaxing place to be, right after this half finished sketch.. I fell asleep right on the breakwater.
Starfish based on a picture from my trip to Hawaii last summer. I painted it in bed rather quickly but I tried to make it a bit different/more interesting.
This is based on the lyrics of a song (which are written on the glacier) by Death Cab for Cutie. Every time I hear this song I have this picture in my mind and it was great to finally draw it. I had a great time painting/drawing this one and I love how it turned out. Sorry if your country is horribly deformed, I wanted the continents to be recognizable without spending an eternity worrying about detail. The stars were made by sprinkling a bit of salt on the black watercolor while still wet.
In case you can’t read my writing here are the lyrics:
“I wish the world was flat like the old days, so I could travel just by folding a map… there’d be no distance that could hold us back.”
