It was pretty strange to meet this car somewhere in the mountains, don’t even know where, we GPS-ed Home Depot along the road to pick up a belt for an injured young athlete. Don’t even know how old is this beauty. Ink and red Kuretake pen on old paper.

2011May 24tags: Ave U | brooklyn | Ira | Kuretake | nostalgic | sepiaAve U is Chinatown of Brooklyn, colorful and authentic. I like one big store there where you can buy Chinese and Japanese products. I like wild rice from Taiwan, interesting sauces, unknown vegetables, Japanese lollipops, sweets, pickled vegetables, edamame, etc. Street is packed and colorful. I used Sepia ink and Kuretake H20 on old discolored watercolor paper. Added color later. This paper is so much fun to watch, it absorbes ink right away, drying in seconds and sometimes lives weird small dotes inside the brushstroke, creating sort of nostalgic look.

I used my triangle antique pencil for drawing and ink, added some color with Kuretake Twin pens. While waiting for puddles to dry listen to the Thai DJ, I download online. This guy was standing for a long time, looking at me, I was looking at him in silence. I think he works here.
