I got bunch of Stillman&Birn sketchbooks as a present from them and experimenting in different series. Here first page in “Delta”. I used Bijou box of watercolors and Uranus pen (double sided with brush and pen), paper is pretty thick, 180 lb. Stove. I sketch in at list 9 sketchbooks at the same time.
Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. It says online that in the mid-seventeenth century Dutch settlers called this part of Brooklyn Yellow Hook because of the color of the soil. ink and Kuretake brush pens.
On our way back to Taipei and passing through Yilan, we stopped at the Lanyan Museum — a beautiful gem of a building, arguably best viewed from a distance, where the architecture’s rugged peaks appear to rise straight out of the misty waters as if to narrate the story of Yilan’s birth.
Ave C in Brooklyn. Ink in Stillman&Birn Alpha series sketchbook. I played with the texture a little bit, but tried to keep it simple, almost a silhouette. It is like looking through the eyelashes on the street, loosing sense of color, seeing little dots of distortion, deep in your thoughts, sinking in hidden emotions.

In this part of Brooklyn, in Orthodox Jewish community, despite presence of modern cars, you feel like in a different century. Time doesn’t matter, only life and respect for life are present. Even sky was different. I passed by and was charmed for a while, appreciating our similarities and differences.
I used ink on Bockingford 90 lb paper. I even forgot to add bits of color.
