Leave me alone – Watercolour
I spotted this heron, last week, sitting on a branch above the River Almond. It glared at me, as I tried to get closer for a photograph, and seemed to say, “Go away. Leave me alone”. It disappeared quite quickly.

Japanese inspired drawing. Watercolor pencil, colored pencil and indian ink on Japanese folded moleskine.
This sketch was done at a favorite point on the Shirakawa Canal which runs for miles through Kyoto, Japan. We always stop and sit for a moment on the wooden platform at the ede of the water and rest from our long walk. Today this portion of the canal had many sketchers, and we were lucky enough to have a heron fishing very close to us. The canal is very shallow and clean and lined with willow trees.
