This is a page from my very first Moleskine pocket watercolor journal, which I’m filling with illustrated haiku. The pear and background were painted wet-in-wet watercolor then copper gel pen accents were added on the pear’s leaf and stem. Finally, a fine point permanent marker was used to create the dotted border and haiku text. This page took about an hour to complete including drying time between glazes on the pear.
Contribution to Moleskine exchange 58, the book of Sudjino from Moscow. Theme of her book was “Miracle Fish”, so I wrote this little Haiku (japanese style poem).
Water like mirrors.
Yellow, red miracle fish
Reflect shattered suns
The eyes of medusa
Kur tu? Pradingai?
Žinau, jaučiu – tu čia…
Tik atsimerksiu – čia.

Where are thou? Gone?
I know, I feel – you’re here…
Just open my eyes – here.
