I feel that everything I am, have been & can be is in this piece. We’ve all burned bridges & lost something or someone close to us. In the end is it out of self-loathing or selfishness that we suck others in? Or are we just too damaged to accept a good thing when it’s there, even though we try our best and still seem to fall short? When others offer a hand, do we generally want to help ourselves, or are we just inviting them to share our misery? Do we trust others enough to let them in, or do we try to seem normal to the point where it damages us further? In the end, who does our pain end up hurting more, ourselves or others? This piece represents two sides that I feel are present in everyone.
This piece was made using mixed media on 18″x24″ paper
