November Theme Challenge! The contents of a trashcan
I was just having fun with this ink drawing and wanted to try my hand at digital coloring. So the drawing was done in ink in a Moleskine and then colored in photoshop. I like fall and I miss the colors of maple trees. I was especially pleased with the color of the sky, it’s a kind of melancholy blue that was just a happy mistake.
Dreams of Halloween
A page combining my love of the season with the sleepless theme. The main composition is from a vintage Halloween postcard (another one of my favorite things) by Ellen Clapsaddle.
Autumn near Sarajevo with Bogumil necropolis from 13-14th century.
Bogumils were “heretic” pre-Ottoman-era Christians of Bosnia, also found in Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, and even southern France, but they were nowhere else as presistent as in Bosnia. Somehow they were resisting western Chatolic and eastern Ortodox influences and pressures by sustaining their beliefs – until, with Ottoman rule they dissapeared – according to some theories by massive conversion to Islam (?!). You can see their massive tombstones called “stećci” that were brought from far-away to usually very beautiful remote sites. This shows the same necropolis viewed from south-east (up) and north-west (down).
View from Inna’s balcony. It was wonderful silent moment of the morning, chilling, drawing, sharing apple with dogs. Mountains looks different every day.
I was miserable on saturday night, so start sketching view from the porch with Stabilo Wood pencils, had to add watercolor Koi and sepia pen before the darkness fell and gnats attack.
