A Purple Turtle.
I got a new moleskine! to be 100% honest, this is my first real one. I’ve been using a knock-off until now! embarrassing, I know.
anyway, this is a portrait of emily haines, my single favorite musician. she’s the singer for metric and also has her own solo projects. this was an experiment in colored pencil. I haven’t used it “for real” in a long long time. so long ago it doesn’t even count. I’m so happy it came out alright!
The day after christmas.
The little guy at the left is a “tió”. He is the one that brings presents to the catalan children.
Well, actually he “shits” the presents and sweets…
He is a magical log. Normally is just a piece ofe wood with a painted face, a hat and a scarf, but mine got this cute papier mache face (it is a puppet, in fact, not a “real” log)
Children keep him warm and feed him during the advent time. On christmas eve, they hit the poor guy with sticks and sing songs. Then, the “tió” defecates the christmas sweets and presents.
Yes, I know. We are a very scatological people…but it’s fun, anyway.
Merry christmas, and happy new year…
View from Bluff Cove, Lake Davis, Calif., USA. Planned to paint. Got too close to cliff, wind blew canvas over cliff. Watercolor, colored pencil, ink.
“Virginity is a harsh mistress”
I’m pretty sure this isn’t autobiographical…
I drew this while being attacked by geese in Stamford. Their addiction to white bread had driven them into a frenzy. You want to help but some species just wont help themselves.
But, Wouldn’t Dick Tracy…
Just a fish I see in my head. This is my first attempt at drawing/using colored pencils… I found myself inspired by this website.
