Power of Addiction
I smoked socially for a few years and, even though I’ve kicked the habit, I still find myself jonesing for that first hit every once in a while. A few of my mates smoke like fiends and while we were out at the pub over the weekend I ended up grabbing the front of one the packages with the idea of making some art out of it and this is the result.
Power of the Post
A collage from the postage that arrived on several pieces of mail within a few days of each other (somehow both of the cats are in the veterinarian’s automated reminder system multiple times).
As I was filling in the page around the stamps it got me thinking about how reliable the U.S. postage system is and how powerful that quick, easy communication is.
Another Page of Lecture Notes
Along with some doodles and sketches and random thoughts, I was working through a programming problem and that found it’s way into my notes as well.
Bad Moon Rising
I was in a bad space a few days ago and so I let myself free-write all the little thoughts that were keeping me awake. Once I had that out of my system, I decided to see what I could do to turn all the negativity into something beautiful. First came the spirals, covering everything, but I wasn’t sure where to go from there. Then today I struck on the idea of adding the collage and the blue moonbeams over everything; and that’s how the page worked itself out.
This is Radio Nowhere
Is there anybody alive out there?
I’ve had pieces of this song stuck in my head for the last several days (must be an effect of the Radio Science conference I attended in Boulder through the weekend) and so it found it’s way into a new collage page in my pocket molie (I hated folding it up to close the thing, but that’s how it goes when the art outgrows the pages).
At Road’s End
This is the last page of my ‘sleepless’ molie; my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project: 2011 is now finished (unless I do something creative to the back cover) and ready to be sent back. It’s been quite a journey over these last six months (almost exactly to the day, I started working on it on June 1) and I’ve really enjoyed the challenge.
Dreams of Endless Sky
A collage page in the ‘sleepless’ molie playing around with different shades of blue sky.
