2012Jan 31tags: brooklyn | chinese | ink | Ira | KuretakeOur local Chinese restaurant. Recorded one fun evening together after tiring day of planning and brainstorming. We went to 3 places to get different food for each of us (cranky us) and got dessert in Turkish store. I used sepia ink, 2 Kuretake brushes and 3 languages: English, Chinese and Russian.

2011Dec 31tags: brooklyn | ink | Ira | Jaguar | KuretakeOne day I went to draw a backdrop for the play and down the street saw that beauty. Garbage truck was backing up passing few centimetres from me, unable to make a turn on narrow Brooklyn’s street. I closed my eyes when it passed that elegant antique Jaguar. I think it is Jaguar SS 100 from 1937, built in England. I can’t help it, being charmed by cars. Used ink and 2 Kuretake pens.

2011Sep 5tags: brooklyn | ink | Ira | Kuretake | sepia | streetThis paper is more than 20 something years old, I ripped it from the watercolor pad with blue cover saying Aquarell, I think it is german. I think I bought it before my daughter was born. Last place were it was basement Upstate. I like everything old, its connecting time. I used ink and a little bit of Kuretake pens for color. Nothing special about this street, it is life what is beautiful, light and shadows, and existing. Size is 12″x12.7″

2011Aug 21tags: brooklyn | glass | ink | IraWent to look for a coffeemaker and was stunned by the beauty of the glass singing its own melody on the dark industrial street under the train in Brooklyn. Still living with crappy coffeemaker but will remember that day with dust, sunlight, shadows and glass. Ink and touch of Inktense pencils on old, very old watercolor paper.

2011Jul 30tags: brooklyn | Hero pen | ink | Ira | red auto | sketchSmall trip to “Century 21″ (department store in Brooklyn, where you can buy cool designer clothes for fraction of the cost, not for me though, because for me exist only art tools and books), turned into a pleasant adventure, I met this old red car. I used ink and a bit of watercolor and outlined with Hero pen using nib from both sides. I love this pen’s versatility, the only problem it runs out of ink very quickly. And I am not carrying bottle of ink with me since that time in my student years in Moscow when wind overturned bottle of ink and my stepmother’s white mackintosh was all covered with black-and-purple spots.

2011Jun 11tags: brooklyn | ink | Ira | Kuretake | PorschePorsche. The portrait of a car. I experimented a bit with watercolor paper from my old sketchbook. I like that one ink broke into couple of colors. I used ink, Kuretake Twin brush and Kuretake H20.

2011Jun 8tags: brooklyn | http://nikiraart.blogspot.com/2011/06/wisteria.html | PS | wisteria | מקוריAnother corner in Brooklyn done in ink and touch of color with few Kuretake pens on watercolor paper from old sketch pad. It brought to mind In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower: In Search of Lost Time, by Proust. EXcept here is inverted in PS version, followed one artist advice. Kinda like this ghostly mysticism.
