  Daydreams and Nightmares

  My mind was wandering during a co-worker’s practice talk for his upcoming oral candidacy exam and, despite taking a few notes on suggestions for him, I ended up with a new page in my pocket molie.

  I use my Moleskine mainly for doing logo design sketches, but every-so-often when I had a little time to spare, I drew this piece on one squared-page. I named it “State of Mind”, which can be seen in the top right.

  The whole thing is loosely based on whatever I was thinking when I added an element to it. Overall, I worked on it (with a ball-point pen) over the course of 3 months.

  A flame bird resplendent facing an angry ice giant. I started with a few similar shapes and then looked for features the popped out at me and pursued the picture from there.
