While I was on vacation it seems a bear (or two?) came by and cleaned all the apples off my trees, breaking most of the branches in the process. They left neat piles of cores and peelings under the tree and also their scat, which is how I know it was a bear(s). So I had to find other apple trees to make applesauce this year, and my son found a tree next to a railroad track that was loaded. I went there and got a great haul of apples. There’s nothing quite like home-made apple sauce!!!

2009Nov 11tags: Autumn Walk Finds | colored pencil | inkAfter coming back from vacation and having missed most of the best autumn color in my own neck o’ the woods, I’m still finding some color here and there and am using colored pencil again because it’s very contemplative and relaxing for me. This sort of close-up nature study is my very favorite thing to mess with and I’m back at it while there is still some autumn color available.
