Hey, Rudat–I’ve really been enjoying your awesomely swirly inky moleskine drawings! I’m kinda curious–do you apply your inks directly to your moleskine straight, or do you first make a pencil sketch first? (just askin’ because straight ink still scares me :O)

Thank you! Yes, I start with a pencil.

Is it a detailed sketch? Is it too forward to ask to see a scan of it before inking?

Okay, okay, I’m putting away the scalpel.

I must say this is very creative!
The detail in this is truly amazing, i can feel the flow of the water (if it’s water) inside the cup…Like a river smashing into rocks..

I didn’t scan this as a pencil sketch. I love doing art with illusionary bits…like the old liquor ads where you search the ice cubes for the scull and crossbones.
