Like my “relic” series, a spontaneous charcoal sketch was the inspiration for this subject. The “meat flower”‘s inspiration is still a mystery to me, but Ill continue to draw it until it looks exactly how I want it to.

Building a Snowflake
This one started with a circle, and then some guidelines drawn in every sixty degrees so I could get a hexagon and build on that shape. Then I just thought about what forms lines and shapes seemed interesting and marked those with color. Then I erased the guidelines and started filling the interior. Some of the original shapes got broken down into smaller pieces to make them more interesting , and then, finally, the background was shaded in to finish it off.
