Working in the comics industry takes me to a lot of comic conventions. Sometimes I just don’t understand certain levels of fandom. Middle-aged men in large costumes for example.
Perhaps it’s just my limited range of experience.

Playing around with creating characters based on shapes. Long and rectangular vs. short and square. Then I realized all I needed was a dark mysterious guy and you have a poor man’s version of Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn…circa 1938.

I would imagine that our friend pictured here scoots about on his abnormally long arms, given the shortness of his legs. He also has a very rigid and limited imagination, given both the woodenness and paleness of the woman he’s envisioning…supposedly in color. The fact of the matter is that he doesn’t dream in color so much as he dreams in watercolors applied hastily to a surface not intended for them.
