And here is one I did right after I discovered Molys, so it was about three or four years ago. I still like the flower shadows against the lower wall.

2009Jul 22tags: ink | watercolor | Woodland creekHere’s another creek. In this hot weather it’s wonderful to dip my toes into water that’s still cold from snow run-off, although the toes still turn blue. By late August the water will be warm enough for swimming, and then by September a lot of the creeks will be dried up until we get the next rain in about November—if we are lucky.

2009Jul 21tags: blue flax | crimson clover | ink | Ox-eye daisy | watercolorDecided to do a red, white and blue theme. These all grow together in my yard, although in the heat we have been having everything is slowly fading away. Today it was 101 degrees and I have fans going all over the house because last summer my air conditioning died and I haven’t replaced it. Bob, the garden spider is truly harmless

2009Jul 20tags: ink | Sierra Tiger Lily | watercolorA spectacular plant, and this also grows only where there is plenty of water, even if the hillside behind it looks completely dry. We have had a lot of them this year because of the later than usual rains in May and in the very early part of June with water accumulating in some of the roadside ditches, so in certain places they are blooming all along the roads.

2009Jul 19tags: ink | Seep-spring monkey flower | speedwell | watercolorThese are two flowers that indicate WATER. Wherever they grow there will be water seeping either a little bit above ground or just underneath the ground even if all around is arid and dry and dead.

2009Jul 16tags: deer | fern | ink | MarkersThis was an experiment with markers, which I find pretty garish, but which have their uses. I find the colors difficult to control. The deer is too dark, I think, but once I was committed to the color I had to stick with it since markers can’t be undone. I’ve done this same picture with colored pencil and it turned out much softer and more to my liking—Opinions on this?????????

2009Jul 15tags: desserts | July 09 | Theme ChallengeDon’t know if this is better than the last one, but I struggled less with it. The perspective is off because it came out of imagination instead of having a model still life in front of me, but I like it better anyhow. It’s ink, markers and ordinary pencil for the light pattern on the tablecloth.

2009Jul 14tags: desserts | July 09 | Theme ChallengeI really struggled with this one. It began as a watercolor, but I couldn’t get the colors intense enough or smooth enough, especially for the smooth chocolate, so I let it dry and then went to markers. Am still not happy with it, but it will have to do for now.

2009Jul 13tags: ink | ShadyPlaceByCreek | watercolorI found this wonderful shady place by a little creek that very few people know about since the entrance is all overgrown. My little dog and I spend a lot of time there when it’s really hot, and I can let her run loose because there’s really no place for her to go, while I paint or take a nap. The other side of the page, shows some of the plant life in that place, but the whole page didn’t scan which is why it’s cut off.
