Oranges and Kiwis. I like Cézannes still lifes with fruit (as well as all his other work!). Here’s an attempt of catching fruit in watercolour myself. I find it hard to catch the impression of an orange (well ok, it’s orange … but getting the structure of the surface so it doesn’t just look like a peach or an apple …).

Self-portrait Lovis Corinth. My first attempt at a moleskine-watercolour. Based on a dramatic self-portrait oil painting by Lovis Corinth (Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Cologne).
I just recently got to know this site with sublime mini-works of art on moleskine-formats (with thanks to René Fijten). It’s a great stimulus to actually get busy yourself and so I decided not to postpone, but just start with some moleskine-drawing myself.
