Just back from a business trip to Singapore. What a nice surprise: during lunchbreak a group of chinese acrobats and musicians showed us a traditional Dragon and Lion Dance, to celebrate the Chinese new year.

The past 2 weeks we made a trip through Indonesia, Java and Bali. Here is the itinerary.

“You just have to head down the stairs from the hotel, and you’ll arrive at the little harbour. Usually we dine at the last terrace, at Zorba’s. I guess that’s not his real name, but everyone calls him that way. Ha! Only two night shifts to go and we’ll be on the plane heading south” He laughed and took the next exit.

1 dead and 14 wounded, that was the toll of a severe accident on the A2 motorway in the Netherlands, last Tuesday.
A beer truck drove into a military troopers transport truck, whose driver was giving medical attention to an earlier accident. It happened some 200 meters ahead from where I was, and I stood in the traffic jam for some time. When I saw dozens of ambulances and firetrucks speeding by, I knew it was serious.
After a while I managed to leave the motorway by crossing some lawns and I found my way through small roads to the next access ahead. Just when I entered the motorway again another accident happened in the opposite direction: in front of my eyes a car hit the oncoming traffic jam, was launched and spun around in mid air.
I stopped at the next gasstation and drew what I just had seen (the second accident); I can still recall the scene quite vividly.

A fantastic performance, like always.
Most of you readers won´t know, but Herbert is the biggest German musician of popular music; his concerttour sells out dozens of stadiums in Germany, and attracts half a million enthousiastic german fans. And a few Dutch.

The City and the City, a book by China Mieville, I read it in english.
An unbelievable good book; he describes a murder in a city who is in fact two totally different cities: Beszel and Ul Qoma. But these cities share the same streets. Read it!

Delft, the Netherlands, sketched on the Beestenmarkt. You can see the tower of the new church (well new… it’s from about AD 1500) through the trees. Painted and drawn on location, while sipping good coffee on a terrace.
