Bit of fireside doodling of an evening. I was trying to get my head around a painting I am currently working on, and came up with this. Ok so it’s not very technically elaborate, but that’s what a sketchbook is good for, no?

some river stones I sketched in my sketchbook one day when on holiday up north in the Waikato. This is near Matamata, where they built the “Hobbiton” set for Lord of the Rings. There’s a waterfall there, and a very steep hike up a mountain to the top of it. The walk runs along this little river before it climbs up the gorge.

Hi, I’m new here and bravely submitting my first pencil sketch – some reeds in a pond near Levin in the lower North Island, New Zealand. This isn’t actually done in a moleskine, just a regular A3 sketch pad – but I asked and the admin said it was ok, so there. Next time I should get myself a decent sketchbook… ahem.
