I stumbled upon this mural on the wall of a home while poking around my neighborhood. It was very colorful in hot pinks and other tropical colors, but I decided to stick with black and white. The designs around it are my own creations.

I had a quick glance of this charming sight on Union Street in San Francisco this week.
Unfortunately before I could get out of my car, the man put the mouse in his jacket pocket and jumped into a taxicab with the dog and cat and whisked away. I drew this from memory while enjoying a coffee at Jovino.

This is a slice of life in Waikiki this morning. I assume these are the Star Beachboys of days gone by. I colored this at home with acrylic paints.

These funky homes and cottages of old Honolulu are nearly gone and I like to draw some of my all-time favorites. In spite of how presentable my sketch made it look, this place has a charm all its own, with whirygigs and other paraphernalia cluttering up the place, but giving the house a wonderful character. I was delighted to find it still standing when I came to sketch it this morning. The street name “Tusitala” means “story teller” in Samoan. Robert Lewis Stevenson adopted this as his local name when he spent time here in Honolulu.

Some pretty Japanese maple leaves I picked up from the Kyoto Botanical Garden and glued into my Moleskine travel journal. So far the color has stayed pretty well.
