Lisbon. My first experiment in sketching people with only watercolour and no pencil or pen work at all.
Lisbon. Watercolour & 4B graphite stick.
Done during the Urban Sketchers Syposium, as part of a workshop called ‘Lining Over Colour’ – putting down colour first, in simple lines only, then working over afterwards in line.
I was introduced to this view, looking out across the Tagus River, during the Urban Sketchers 2011 Symposium last weekend. I tried an experiment, using just watercolour, and straight down onto the page, without any pencil guidelines. I didn’t manage to capture the heat of the sun, but I was pleased with the simplification.
