Scary Snowman
8″ x 5″ Watercolor
By Kirby
This is a scary snowman. I’m doing a series of them. I hope to put some children in the mix somehow. I’ll call the series Snowman from lack of a better discription. Any suggestions?

Morning Surf
8″ x 5″ Watercolor
By Kirby
I love surfing. This is a tribute to all who surf. Theres something magical about being out there in the ocean just you and the waves. Its also a big rush and a lot of fun.
I did this free hand and it turned out to be a lot of fun. At first I wasn’t sure if it would turn out ok. As usual with watercolors, just be calm don’t panic, unless your cat runs across your desk narrowly missing your painting but landing on your palette as your finishing what looks to be your best graded wash ever. I’m not saying it happened to me but it could happen.
I had to do this one after watching Art Wolfe’s most awesomist PBS special in Japan. Some branches probably black pine topped with white snow. With a contrasting red door.

Cobblestones

This is another idea I had that kind of developed along the way. It shows some shadows off a mother and her child walking along these cobblestone streets.

If its raining going to the library seems a popular thing to do, this one is open on a Sunday. A quick sketch while parked.

Have you ever seen a boat for sale anchored in the harbor? This one was. I loved doing this one. It was a very windy day and I tried to convey that with the rough looking water. Can you tell where the wind is coming from? If you can the painting was a success if not…..
