Pierre Loti’s book “An Iceland Fisherman” inspired this sketch subconsciously. When I started it, it was going to be something completely different, and then…this is just how it turned out…

I find the pickelhaube to be simultaneously repellent and fascinating at the same time. Time to definitely switch up on my medium too…and maybe do some life drawing instead…(maybe)…

This sketch was inspired by a scene in the 1939 version of “The Four Feathers”. My one regret is not putting more negative space between the bayonet and the rifle, which would’ve heightened the tension. Much obsessing over a sketch, no? … Done with a Deluxe Micro Uni-Ball and a Tombo ABT N15 brush pen.

This is my very first piece of ‘skine art, in my very first Moleskine. Pen and ink. Not happy with the way my cheap brush pen faded out…
