Places without cars (ballpoint pen), old town of Augsburg.
A while ago I decided to not draw cars but instead to leave their shapes white. The drawing is not finished … snow took on the job (well it whitened everything) …

2008Oct 29tags: balcony | ballpencil | streetA grey day. (Which partially was spent on a balcony in Berlin with ballpoint pencil & large moleskin.)
I tried to wrap the shading scale around the drop of rain water and the reflections on the wet railing, emphasizing them by making the rest as dark as it would take.

2008Oct 22tags: ballpoint pen | barnOld barn door, trailer and window, ball point pen again.
The paper got pretty wavy from making the shadows black, hence the reflections when I scanned it. Maybe I should switch to water color now ?

2008Oct 18tags: airport | ballpoint pencil | planeThirsty plane.
Drawing made on the Philadelphia airport. The pilots alread had taken their seats.
The technique again is ballpoint pencil and the only reason I keep using it is the challenge that comes along – I can not correct major flaws – so there is something good to learn for me. The little hole on the left page is caused by intense rubbing !

2008Oct 16tags: plane | sky‘I’ve looked on clouds from both sides now …’ (from a Joni Mitchell song)
Drawing done in a shaky plane. I was close to dumping the ballpoint pencil as it spit a black hole on the paper. I tried to eliminate it by rubbing … which made the hole white again but also deeper (goes all the way through the paper now …)
