Love that Queen Mary sketch! Last time I was down there I had dinner at Parker’s Lighthouse with a good view of her across the bay. Used to take my kids there when they were young too, and they loved playing hide-and-seek in those red phone booths. Brings back memories.
Funny thing is, in those days it never even occurred to me to bring a sketchbook along, and now thinking back, I would have enjoyed everything twice as much while sketching it.

Did you know, Rob, that work on the Queen Mary was halted in 1931 because of the depression. When the UK government injected cash to finish it there was a mad rush and tradesmen from all over the country were brought in – including my Grandfather, a cabinet maker. I still have a piece of the “patterned wood” used on the ship. What a small world this is. Thanks for the memory – great drawing.
