The dogwood is now past its prime until autumn when the leaves turn a brilliant red and the blossom turns into red fruits. The bird is a Western Tanager male. You don’t see them very often, but when they fly by he’s like a brilliant jewe against the dark pinesl. The manzanita berries are edible. The pioneers used to make a sort of jelly from them, and these days it’s one of the prime foods of black bears.

Wonderful! I like the berries, flower, insect, and bird all on one page. Nicely done.
