Watercolors and ink pen. This was sketched at the Mt. Hiei Garden Museum, 848 meters above sea level in Kyoto. 1500 different types of flowers are planted here each season. It’s a French Impressionist garden with huge replicas of famous works by many of those painters. Monet’s garden in Giverney is the most popular replica here. A train, cable car, and a ropeway will get you to this garden.

This is the sort of sketching page that will bring back the best memories of somewhere you have been, with all the little details and colors and written comments. I love this page!

Ah! Smoked Salmon! Margaret would love this. Great wee painting and so familiar with Monet’s Japanese study. My youngest will visit your area,as well as Hawaii, in a month’s time en route to his new job in New Zealand. Isn’t life incredibly small?
