Our art guild has started its own sketch crawls. We do one a month. We meet at a gorgeous place and draw whatever interests each of us, and then we move on to the next spot in the same general area. At the end of the afternoon we usually meet in a restaurant for a snack or dinner, and compare notes about the day and show our work. It’s been enormously fun. Being the hermit I am I wasn’t sure I was going to like drawing with other people around, but have found that I love being with like-minded persons who know what I’m talking about when I say something about the light and shadows moving so fast, or talk about a watercolor wash. And its amazing what you learn when you see other artists work. We will be doing more sketch crawls beginning in May, and I’m looking forward to each and every one.
Next on the agenda is trying to get an internet site up for our art guild so people can post their accomplishments for each sketch crawl. It will be just a regional small-time operation, but lots of fun.
Thank you all for your comments, and I hope some of you will participate in the next world-wide sketchcrawl.
Roseindigo>I am envious that your local art group has its own sketchcrawl. I tried to do that when I was president of Hawaii Watercolor Society last year and could not drum up any interest at all in this kind of thing. If you are successful in putting up a group site to display the sketches online, please send a link to me. Thanks for sharing this. Linda

Check out this link and learn about Sketchcrawl. It is held world-wide on a chosen day, then sketches are posted and commented on. I think you’d enjoy it!
Thanks for commenting.

What a great idea sketchcrawl is. Very interesting. Like some of your fish especially the “Christmas Wrasse” which looks very like our “Cuckoo Wrasse”
