This is part one of my entry in Jan Allsopp’s book for Moly-X48, part of the International Moleskine Exchange. I used Winsor & Newton India ink and gold ink with a dip pen and brush.

Love it!
Just wondering, does the Winsor & Newton ink go on black or do you have to go over it again? I use Kohinoor and I feel like it doesn’t go black, and if I paint over a large space I have to go over it to make it black. Plus it kinda bleeds.

Thanks Alexandra!
Winsor & Newton India ink is my most favourite ink— it is a super rich black that can be thinned to a warm grey. It goes on very black, and doesn’t bleed unless you have a very raggy paper. If you are trying to cover large areas, you might want to add a second coat afterwards, but it’s not usually necessary. The ink has shellac in it, which gives it a nice shine.
It’s in the bottle with the top hat wearing spider man.
