  there is a monument for a boll weevil in Enterprise, Alabama. The only monument anywhere for an agricultural pest.

  Bob, the boll weevil destroyed the cotton crops but encouraged farmers to try growing another crop (peanuts) which lifted the economy of the area, back around 1919. Glad to be back, thanks for the comments Bob and Alessandro!
