Woods on the edge of our village – Ink on a small watercolour Moleskine
These woods contain many mature trees but kindly people have planted hundreds of small saplings amongst them, as an investment for the future. Folk after my own heart. Question? “When is the best time to plant a tree?” Answer! “Twenty years ago.”

Very austere. I’ve noticed you never do anything fancy but you always hit the mark.

Thanks Sophie. Less is more perhaps or is this a case of one Scotsman trying to save money on materials? Answers, everyone, on a post(card).

Good of you to comment so nicely, Sarah. I’ve worked hard at producing better trees on my larger paintings and have found that they make all the difference to landscapes. I’ve gotten lots of inspiration from Roland Hilder (have some of his books). Here are a couple of links, of sale items, which depict Windsor Castle.
