  Like the slight “halo” effect around the figures which creates boundaries. Hadn’t thought of that. Must try it. Thanks for posting this.

  it happened by accident, then I realized how well it helped define the face. Try this,too: leave a white boundary only on the side of the face the light is on, while not leaving the white boundary on the side in shadow – that’s a nice effect, too.
